Official Client side Representative Public Space Policy and Management

The ambition of a government organization is not only to maintain public space but also to seize every opportunity to make it better, more beautiful, and greener, and to prepare it for the challenges of the future. Investment projects in public space are the ideal instrument for this. An official client-side representative is sought for these projects.

What You Will Do. From the Tasks and Programming Team, you are responsible on behalf of the entire Public Space Policy and Management department for the design and (internal) assignment of our investment projects. You will work closely with other client-side representatives to maximize efforts to make the environment future-proof. This has been established in the strategic public space management plan.

In the multi-year programming of major maintenance, replacements, and redesigns, the lifespan and depreciation periods of assets are taken into account, while also fulfilling policy ambitions regarding, for example, greenery, subsoil, and mobility. Redesign projects maximally intertwine above-ground and underground ambitions to design the neighborhood in a future-proof manner.

Specifically, think of projects with a civil component (road/cycle path/bridges/quays) but also greenery, sewage, water, public lighting, parking, and traffic control systems.

The client-side role is evolving. The position of the client-side representative in the organization is being further strengthened. Furthermore, the importance of strict control over scope, planning, and budget has become increasingly crucial. Finally, the client-side representative must play a more significant role at a strategic level vis-à-vis the board, choices in the total project portfolio, and external developments.

• You are the link between the board and the project organization, taking into account the management and policy organization.
• You report on project progress to management and the board.
• You issue assignments to the internal project office and manage the project manager.
• You provide input to the P&C cycle, such as framework notes, progress reports, and annual accounts.
• You are responsible for GROTIK of your projects.
• You are co-responsible for the effective utilization of the total multi-year investment budget, within your portfolio and in coordination with other client-side representatives regarding the overall portfolio.
• You contribute to the development of structure and culture towards professional asset management and client-side representation.
