Regional Correspondent

• Actively search for compelling and interesting news stories in the assigned region.
• Deliver stories on all societal themes: politics, economy, culture, justice, human interest, etc.
• Maintain a news calendar and propose potential topics.
• Go out for a specific assignment at the request of an editorial team.
• Conduct interviews for radio and online.
• Take photos and, for some assignments, short video recordings.
• Process the gathered information into smooth (radio) reports.

• Have good contacts that can provide you with news and information and quickly build your own network.
• Be able to quickly get in touch with residents of the municipalities to get their reactions to news facts.
• Be able to ask the right, critical questions in an interview.
• Be able to write fluent texts for radio, take beautiful photos for a web article, record radio quotes, and make short film recordings.
• Be familiar with the style and deontology of a public broadcaster or be willing to quickly master them.
• Deliver work that meets quality requirements.
• Be flexible regarding working hours and not deterred by weekend work.
• Be stress-resistant and able to work quickly and efficiently.
• Be able to work independently and communicate well with editorial teams.
• Be able to make clear agreements and brief information clearly.
• Be open to feedback and eager to learn.
• Reside in a municipality in the Waasland region.
• Possess a B driving license.

• This is a freelance on-call contract.
• The specific dates on which services will be delivered can be agreed upon in mutual consultation and based on availability.
