Staff Advisor

As a staff advisor, you will work at the heart of a government organization and be closely involved in various issues that directly contribute to good governance. You will interact daily with the concern manager, the various departments within the division, and other parts of the organization. This variety, broad responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute at a strategic level make this position unique.

What you will do.

  • You support and advise the management team on department-wide assignments, often spanning multiple bureaus.
  • You are a permanent member of the management team.
  • You carry out these assignments, usually at the intersection of policy and implementation, on behalf of the MT of a department for safety, legal affairs, and administrative support.
  • You advise the concern manager and the MT, both solicited and unsolicited, on complex operational management files.
  • You act as the primary point of contact within the department for P&C processes and organization-wide assignments.
  • As a networker, you connect with all relevant functions both within and outside the department.
  • You analyze organizational developments, advise the management team on operational management, and support the concern manager on strategic and organizational issues.
  • You coordinate and monitor important departmental processes, such as the planning and control cycle, the MT agenda, the term calendar, and department-wide assignments.
  • You connect people and topics within the department by supporting bureaus, guiding projects, and ensuring that the organization functions smoothly and efficiently.
