You will fulfill a versatile role where safety, guidance, and collaboration with healthcare professionals come together.
- Within a specialized care center in a correctional facility, you are responsible for the safety of all healthcare professionals and detained patients.
- You guide detained patients.
- You collaborate with doctors, psychologists, case managers, and nurses.
- You are responsible for a group of detainees with various somatic and often psychological problems.
- You offer a tailored approach and guidance to each detained patient, such as clarity, structure, supportive conversations, or activities.
- You act adequately and proactively in cases of (verbal) aggression.
- You devise a suitable daily program within existing frameworks that aligns with the necessary safety and care.
What you do
- You start the day with a handover to be informed of the current situation.
- You guide your group during individual and group activities.
- You ensure that detainees are on time for appointments, such as visits or transport.
- You continuously ensure safety in the department for yourself and your colleagues.
- Sometimes you need to protect a detained patient from themselves.
- You are in contact with the group of detained patients almost all day.
- You are a mentor to some patients, and your findings are valuable.
- You observe the behavior and functioning of detainees, signal changes, and share relevant information within the multidisciplinary team.
- You are a crucial link in the continuity and quality of care.
- You combine direct contact with detainees with continuous attention to safety.
- You play an important role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment for recovery.
What they ask
- MBO-4 diploma for the medior position, such as social pedagogical worker, personal supervisor for specific target groups, or social care worker, or a similar field.
- HBO diploma for the senior position, preferably in the direction of social pedagogical worker, personal supervisor for specific target groups, or social care worker, or a similar field.
- Knowledge of group dynamics and conflict management.
- Ability to effectively deal with a forensic target group.
- Familiar with safety procedures and alert to potential safety risks.
- Knowledge of psychopathology, guidance, care, and safety procedures.
- Capable of observing the behavior of (individual) patients, participating in interventions, and drafting reports.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Capable of de-escalating and acting proactively when necessary.
