A social care organization provides shelter to people who have fled their country. Social management is carried out at multiple locations. The dedicated team works daily to offer residents a safe and dignified place. This commitment requires good cooperation, clear communication, and an eye for people and processes. You will join a committed and driven team, spread across several reception locations. The team consists of support workers and a unit manager.
The unit manager is the first point of contact for operational tasks, supports the team in daily execution, and bears final responsibility for the team and the quality of guidance. Together, you ensure a safe, stable, and humane place for refugees. There is an open and collegial atmosphere, with room for consultation, initiative, and humor.
What you will do.
- Ensure a safe and pleasant living environment for 50 to 100 residents.
- Be a trusted face at the location and be attentive to the needs of residents.
- Support residents in finding their way in Dutch society (work, education, health, participation).
- Encourage self-reliance and self-direction among residents.
- Contribute to a pleasant atmosphere and address residents' behavior when necessary.
- Help residents comply with agreements and take responsibility for their living environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute ideas for appropriate support.
- Record observations, conversations, and agreements in short reports to ensure continuity in guidance.
Profile
- Passion for the target group and affinity with working with vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to handle resistance, empathetic, and discreet.
- Strong communication skills and good at establishing contact with clients.
- Capable of addressing people's behavior clearly and respectfully when necessary.
- Able to handle and de-escalate threatening situations through conversation and de-escalation techniques.
- Stand firm and act according to regulations/protocols in case of rule violations, nuisance, conflicts, or vandalism.
- Flexible and professional in communication.
- MBO4 diploma in Social Work or a comparable education.
- Background in care/welfare/social shelter.
- Knowledge of the VG target group, possibly in combination with mental health issues, is a plus.

- One-year contract with the possibility of a permanent contract.
- Individual choice budget (IKB) of 17% of the salary.
