Test Engineer Telecom and Network Infrastructure

An organization provides wireless telecommunications for network operators via its own telecom network. In addition to the existing network, a new telecom network based on LTE-M technology is being developed and built. This network must meet high requirements in terms of safety, reliability, and availability, so that services to parties with vital infrastructures can be provided reliably and securely and remain available even in emergency situations.

For the realization of a business-critical LTE-M network, a Test Engineer is sought who focuses on ensuring the performance, availability, stability, and security of the telecom and network infrastructure. In this role, you are responsible for test readiness, execution of test activities, and release support for the Core Network and underlying services.

You actively contribute to the quality of end-to-end service delivery by performing test activities, coordinating defects, validating integrations, and monitoring test and release readiness. You will work within a multidisciplinary program where telecom networks, IT systems, SIM/eSIM platforms, devices, provisioning, monitoring, security, and operational processes together form one end-to-end service.

What you will do.

  • Analyze requirements, architecture, interfaces, and technical designs
  • Prepare and maintain test scenarios, test cases, and test data
  • Automate suitable API and system tests
  • Perform System Integration Testing (SIT) including interfaces, processes, and non-functional tests
  • Support FAT, SIT, UAT, and end-to-end testing
  • Support performance and load testing
  • Register, analyze, and follow up on defects
  • Perform regression tests
  • Collect test evidence for quality gates and acceptance

What they ask

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Test Engineer, Technical Tester, Integration Tester, or similar role
  • Experience with FAT, SIT, UAT, and end-to-end testing in mobile telecom networks, preferably from a specific vendor
  • Knowledge of mobile network architecture (RAN & Core) and the role of components such as eNB, HSS, MME, SGW/PGE, SMSC, AAA
  • In-depth knowledge of IP networks, IP protocols such as BGP and TCP/IP
  • Insight into interfaces and signaling flows (e.g., S1, S6A, Gx, Diameter, NAS signaling, GTP, radius)
  • Good knowledge of API testing (REST, JSON, XML, and preferably SOAP)
  • Experience with OSS/BSS landscapes, workflow, orchestration, and integration platforms within telecom environments
  • Experience with service provisioning, inventory management, and service assurance
  • Experience with log, trace, and protocol analysis
  • Experience with requirements-based and risk-based testing
  • Experience with performance, resilience, security, and failover testing
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and defect management
  • Good command of Dutch and English

Profile

  • Strong analytical skills, pragmatic, results-oriented, environmentally aware, communicative, independent, flexible, collaborative, decisive, and strong in stakeholder management
  • Excellent command of English
  • Dutch is a plus

Practical

  • Available at least 4 days per week
  • Required: VOG (Certificate of Conduct), professional liability insurance, business liability insurance
  • If a freelancer is proposed by an intermediary agency, the maximum hiring period through this agency will be 1 year, after which the freelancer will be directly contracted through a broker.
