The Geriatrics department offers a qualitative range of care for geriatric patients. The Geriatrics care program includes 39 geriatric beds, extensive day hospital activities, multidisciplinary consultations, and a well-developed internal and external liaison. As a geriatrics resident, you play a key role in this process.
You will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, where your knowledge and insights are of great value. Together, we ensure qualitative, holistic care where the patient is central. As a resident in the Geriatrics department, you contribute not only to quality service delivery but also to the warm, personal approach for which the organization is known.
What You Will Do.
- You are responsible for and supervise care in the Geriatrics day hospital, the Geriatrics hospitalization unit, and Geriatrics liaison.
- You guide medical interns, doctors, and geriatricians in training.
- You are part of the Geriatrics staff and the multidisciplinary geriatric team.
- You are willing to be part of the study team for academic studies, under the leadership of the head of department.
Profile
- Passion for medicine: you are a recognized medical specialist in Geriatrics and authorized to practice medicine in Belgium.
- Language proficiency: you have excellent knowledge of Dutch and can also express yourself fluently in French and English.
- Team player: you can work well in a team and are able to supervise others.
- Stress-resistant and flexible: you keep a cool head in challenging situations and adapt effortlessly to changing circumstances.
- Eager to learn: you have an interest in clinically applied and scientific research.
- Empathetic and patient-oriented: you are empathetic, social, and possess good didactic and pedagogical qualities. You have an eye for the person behind the patient and exude calm and confidence.
