An organization is looking for an IAM Engineer with strong. NET and Azure experience to strengthen the team responsible for the backend of an internal identity orchestration platform.
- The position can be filled with either a permanent contract or a freelance contract.
- This is a long-term assignment.
What you will do.
- Support and further develop the internal identity orchestration platform, including analysis, development, maintenance, and follow-up.
- Help migrate existing.NET components to a cloud-native target architecture on Azure.
- Design and build new Azure-based IAM functionalities from scratch, using components such as Azure Functions, Azure Container Apps, and Azure Key Vault, and integrate them with REST services and identity providers.
- Support IAM-related development including user provisioning, API security, token conversion with user context, and changes within identity governance (IGA).
- Follow up on IAM-related incidents and support vulnerability management for the components you are responsible for.
- Apply your expertise in IAM and security engineering to support secure user management, access control, and API integrations.
- Provide senior-level input on IAM architecture and support the implementation of the agreed architecture, including detailed design and delivery of IAM solutions such as policy-based authorization.
- Design and implement identity lifecycle management and user provisioning solutions, including integrations with identity providers and SCIM-based flows.
- Design and implement fine-grained authorization using policy engines and standards such as OPA, OpenFGA, or AuthZen.
- Apply appropriate authorization models, including RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, and PBAC.
- Maintain and implement solutions within agreed timing and quality standards.
- Document implementations and changes.
- Support analysts and designers in translating functional specifications into technical solutions.
- Provide 3rd-line support.
- Monitor technical evolutions and conduct independent research, with the support of an application architect.
- Understand the technical architecture and reuse existing technical components.
- Assist with planned production deployments outside office hours.
Profile
- Demonstrable, relevant experience as an IAM Engineer and the ability to work independently within a complex Identity & Access Management environment.
- Experience with.NET back-end / back-office development.
- Broad IT knowledge and interest in various IT domains.
- Strong planning skills; dares to question the AS-IS and is results-oriented.
- Works accurately and plans structured.
- Solution-oriented, communicative, and a true team player.
- Hands-on mentality, an eye for quality, and takes initiative to optimize development processes.
- Comfortable working with distributed, international teams.
- Can work independently within a complex application landscape and ensures continuity with recurring changes.
- Experience with Identity & Access Management, including identity governance and administration, identity lifecycle management, and user provisioning.
- Hands-on experience with identity providers such as Keycloak, Duende IdentityServer, or Microsoft Entra ID.
- Hands-on experience with SCIM, OIDC, and OAuth 2.1 for provisioning, authentication, and authorization integrations.
- Experience with fine-grained authorization, including OPA, OpenFGA, or AuthZen, and with authorization models such as RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, or PBAC.

- Experience with SQL.
- REST APIs – designing, building, and using RESTful services (JSON).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for deploying solutions across different environments.
- Secure cloud development practices, including the use of Azure Key Vault for sensitive information.
- Source control with Git.
- Experience with Agile and a DevOps culture.
- Experience with IAM-related development or maintenance within a secure client or partner portal environment.
