Scrum Master

As a Scrum Master, you will work with clients, often in complex, politically sensitive organizations where multiple interests and stakeholders converge. You operate not only at the team level but also keep an eye on the broader organizational and team dynamics. You are the point of contact for both the team and the client organization, and you know how to maintain your position in this dual role: you are flexible enough to adapt to the client's context, but you do not bend with every wind.

You dare to offer contradiction, stick to what the team and the process need, and take ownership of the quality of your work and the team's progress — even when that is uncomfortable.

What you will do.

• Facilitate all Scrum events: sprint planning, daily stand-up, sprint review, and retrospective.
• Coach and guide the team in applying Scrum and Agile principles, adapted to the context and maturity of the client organization.
• Identify and actively remove impediments, even when this requires addressing stakeholders outside the team.
• Actively manage organizational and team dynamics: identify tensions, resistance, or hidden agendas within the team and in the broader client organization, and intervene purposefully.
• Act as a strong discussion partner for the client, management, and stakeholders; guard boundaries and protect the team without becoming rigid.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner in managing and refining the backlog.
• Promote self-organization, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Make progress and risks visible through boards, metrics, and clear reporting to the client.
• Actively monitor and act on the utilization of budgets, project specifications, quality, and scope.
• Quickly switch between different client contexts, cultures, and ways of working, while maintaining your own professional course.
• Contribute to the Agile maturity of the client organization and to knowledge development within the organization, including through knowledge sharing with other Scrum Masters.
• Understand the possibilities and limitations of AI tools, use them responsibly for operational tasks (sprint reports, retrospective summaries, minutes, backlog refinement) and be alert to risks such as security and privacy, bias and hallucinations, and excessive dependence.
• Guide the team in the responsible introduction of AI and monitor the impact of AI-assisted development on sprints and team dynamics.

What they ask

• Completed Scrum Master certification (e.g., PSM I/II or CSM), or willingness to obtain it in the short term.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Scrum Master role or similar process role in IT.
• Minimum of a completed HBO (higher professional education) diploma.
• Demonstrable experience as a Scrum Master, preferably gained in various client organizations.
• Strong knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile methodologies, and the ability to apply them pragmatically in complex environments.
• A distinct personality: you are firm, dare to make decisions, and are not easily swayed by conflicting interests.
• Highly developed sense of organizational and team dynamics, and the ability to steer them purposefully.
• High degree of ownership, commitment, and sense of responsibility — you don't wait, but take action.
• Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing client contexts, cultures, and teams.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, at all levels within an organization.
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Good command of Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.
• Willingness to travel to client locations.

• Experience as a consultant or in another role where you have worked for different clients.
• Experience in guiding multiple teams simultaneously.
• Experience with the Mendix platform or Low Code development in general.
