Residential Counselor

Do you want to contribute to the recovery and stability of people with psychiatric problems? Come and work as a residential counselor in a protected living environment. You will have a meaningful role and the opportunity to support residents towards greater independence and quality of life. The protected living environment is for approximately 15 residents with a diagnosed psychiatric disorder, often in combination with addiction, problematic debts, or a lack of daily activities.

Close cooperation is maintained with mental health professionals to provide structure, safety, and stabilization. Personal plans are focused on recovery, with meaningful daily activities as a fixed component. Participants are also guided in their home environment. Within the guidance, promoting and maintaining skills, social participation, and restoring human dignity are central. You will join a committed, stable, and enthusiastic team consisting of personal counselors, nurses, and residential counselors.

What you will do. As a residential counselor, you support and guide residents in their daily lives with the aim of self-reliance and social participation. Your main tasks are:

  • Guiding living skills and supporting the building/maintaining of a social network.
  • Stimulating structured daily and time management and participation in work or (re)creative activities.
  • Identifying needs and contributing, together with the client, to the drafting and adjustment of the personal plan.
  • Ensuring a safe and orderly living environment and acting as the first point of contact for residents.
  • Reporting, participating in work meetings, and performing administrative tasks.

Profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven colleague who:

  • Is resilient, with a completed MBO 4 education in Social Work.
  • Has insight into addiction problems.
  • Has insight into psychological and/or psychiatric disorders.
  • Knows how to motivate and stimulate clients, focusing on their strengths.
  • Has good oral and written communication skills; preferably knowledge of motivational interviewing and other conversation techniques that contribute to a good helping relationship.
  • Is a good team player with knowledge of their own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Is able to work irregular shifts, day and evening shifts.
  • Endorses the Christian mission of the organization and wants to actively contribute to it.
  • Can provide a positive Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).

Practical

  • Development: career budget of 1.5% and access to an internal academy.

  • Extras: 170 leave hours for a 36-hour week, vitality days, 8.3% year-end bonus, 8% holiday allowance, pension accrual, and €75 sports budget per year.
