KNA Archaeologist

North BrabantHybrid32 hours/week6-12months

A municipal organization is looking for an experienced senior KNA archaeologist for its field archaeology team for a period of at least six months. You will contribute to research that is valuable to the city and its residents, from project preparation to recording results for future generations. You will join a knowledgeable and committed archaeology team that conducts archaeological research for the city and its immediate surroundings.

Together, you will work on meaningful projects that contribute to the preservation and knowledge of the rich subsurface archaeological heritage.

What you will do.

  • Provide a substantive and practical contribution to the preparation, execution, and elaboration of archaeological research.
  • Draw up Programs of Requirements and Plans of Approach.
  • Prepare archaeological fieldwork.
  • Perform archaeological fieldwork at various locations.
  • Independently measure digitally with GPS or RTS (Leica).
  • Process field data in Archeolink and create maps in ArcGIS Pro based on GPS/RTS measurements.
  • Elaborate research results into clear archaeological basic reports.
  • Ensure correct and sustainable deposition of finds and documentation.

  • Maintains an overview, takes initiative, and knows what is needed for successful archaeological research.
  • Works accurately, takes responsibility, and switches effortlessly between research, execution, and reporting.
  • Communicates clearly with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.

What they ask

  • Completed education in European archaeology.
  • Demonstrable academic working and thinking level.
  • Minimum Senior KNA archaeologist MA actor status, evidenced by registration in the Archaeology Actor Register.
  • Proficiency in Dutch at a minimum C1 level, both oral and written.

Preferences.

  • Knowledge of and affinity with urban archaeology and working on sandy soils.
  • Experience with project-based work.
  • In possession of a B driving license.
  • Experience with GPS/RTS, Archeolink, and GIS.
  • Possesses competencies such as collaboration, independence, good communication skills, responsibility, accuracy, initiative, systematic work, flexibility, and results-orientation.
