You have experience as an advisor in education and reading promotion and know how to stimulate reading pleasure among students and teachers. You guide schools through an educational program. You combine your love for reading and knowledge of education to inspire the next generation of readers. The team is growing as more and more schools join the program. You contribute with knowledge and persuasiveness to a reading culture at school.
The program is part of a national initiative where cultural institutions and schools collaborate intensively to help students read with more pleasure and strengthen their language skills. The approach is based on three pillars:
- Expertise: sharing knowledge about reading promotion and media literacy with teachers
- Collection: together with the school, ensuring an attractive, current, and diverse book collection
- Activities: together with the school, organizing inspiring activities that bring reading and digital literacy to life
What you will do.
- You advise on media education and reading and language promotion activities, initiating and executing them
- You advise on a tailor-made and attractive school collection and ensure it remains challenging and actively used, in collaboration with educational specialists and reading coordinators of the school
- You implement and execute (project) activities for the promotion of reading and information skills within the school
- You stay informed of current cultural and social developments
- You occasionally work evenings to provide training
Profile
- HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level
- Demonstrable broad interest in children, education, and the social domain
- Basic knowledge of reading promotion, media education, and child developmental psychology
- Completed the Reading Consultant training or willing to follow it
- Interest in and knowledge of youth literature
- Good didactic skills
- Curious, enterprising, and thinks in solutions and opportunities
- Stress-resistant and able to manage many tasks simultaneously
- Able to communicate ideas and information clearly and distinctly, both orally and in writing
- ICT-proficient and at the forefront of using modern digital tools
- Team player, assertive
- Proactive and able to organize your work independently
- Customer-oriented: able to empathize with the current practice of education, identify teachers' wishes and needs, and be a good discussion partner
