Security Guard

Responsible for the safety of detainees/arrestees and colleagues.

  • Ensures a safe working environment for all involved parties.
  • Works in a de-escalating manner and chooses the best approach to prevent problematic situations as much as possible.

What you will do.

  • Secure and guard the building and the detainees and staff residing therein.
  • Supervise activities and living conditions of detainees in a prison or detention center, or provide care for arrestees in a cell complex, including providing meals and timely outdoor time.
  • Support security tasks with chain partners.
  • Execute security assignments at large government events.
  • Install or remove electronic ankle tags at detainees' homes.
  • Transport detainees, for example, to court, the hospital for a doctor's appointment, or another prison. Deployment for transport assignments is only possible after completing all necessary training.

What they ask

  • MBO 2 working and thinking level, tested by means of a capacity test.
  • Dutch driving license B.
  • Interest in security and the importance of everyone feeling safe.
  • Remain calm under tension and act clearly and respectfully.
  • Good communication skills in Dutch, both verbal and written, for example, for writing reports.
  • Sufficient physical and mental condition.
  • Willingness to work irregular shifts, including day, evening, night, weekend shifts, and holidays.

  • A physical aptitude test (sports test), psychological interview, medical examination, and a capacity and personality test are part of the application procedure.
  • A screening of public sources is part of the application procedure. Requesting references is possible.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to apply.
  • You will receive a surcharge for irregular services, which can amount to up to €750 gross per month extra salary, depending on the days and times worked.
