What you do
- You are ultimately responsible for the specialized medical care of older residents with and without intellectual disabilities.
- The responsibility for basic medical care for residents with intellectual disabilities lies with the general practitioner.
- You work closely with nursing specialists and physicians for intellectually disabled.
- There is intensive intramural multidisciplinary collaboration.
- You seek external connections with chain partners, hospitals, and other stakeholders.
- You work evidence-based, continuously improving practices based on experiences and care outcomes.
- You contribute to the policy development of the organization.
Profile
- You are a BIG registered physician and have completed training as a geriatrician.
- You have an affinity for aging clients with intellectual disabilities.
- You have completed the course 'People with intellectual disabilities in elderly care' or are willing to follow it.
- You have an outward-looking perspective to seek connections with chain partners, hospitals, and other stakeholders.
- You are a true team player and know how to inspire and enthuse others.
Practical
- You will work at various locations of a healthcare organization where older people with intellectual disabilities reside.
- You will be part of a professional group of geriatricians.
- The professional group meets four times a year, including once with the Board of Directors.
- The specialists are active in geriatric rehabilitation care (GRZ), long-term care (Wlz), extramural care, and disability care.
- Mutual expertise is utilized, and a joint annual plan is in place.
- The professional group is supported by a policy officer and has a training group that annually educates 3 to 4 AIOS.
- Active efforts are being made to strengthen the leadership role of the geriatrician, supported by professional leadership training.
- Various developments are underway in elderly care, with a future focus on resident well-being and initiatives such as 'Lang Leven Thuisflats'.
