An organization provides wireless telecommunications for network operators via its own telecom network. In addition to the existing network, a new telecom network based on LTE-M technology is being developed and built. This network must meet high demands in terms of safety, reliability, and availability, so that services to parties with vital infrastructures can be provided reliably and securely and remain available even in emergency situations.
The assignment involves selecting and combining available fiber optic connections from various providers to connect locations reliably and cost-effectively. You will define the technical and functional requirements for these connections and then translate them into an optimal national network design. In doing so, you continuously seek the optimal balance between:

- Availability
- Redundancy and geographical diversity
- Operational manageability
- Technical robustness
- Scalability and future expansions
An important part of the assignment is to establish deployment rules and selection criteria that determine the conditions a connection must meet and how different technical and commercial options are weighed against each other. Based on available network data, you will then analyze various combinations and scenarios and compile the most suitable network.
What you will do.
- Define requirements, design principles, and deployment rules for the use of fiber optic connections within the network.
- Analyze available networks and connections from various providers.
- Determine which network parts can be best combined.
- Develop and compare network scenarios based on TCO, availability, redundancy, and manageability.
- Identify dependencies, single points of failure, and shared infrastructure.
- Establish and substantiate a preferred design for the national network.
- Test technical proposals from providers against the requirements and principles of the organization.
- Document the chosen principles in such a way that they can also be used for future expansions and new locations.
