Chemistry Lab Technician

You will work on analyses that directly contribute to food safety.

  • You will investigate animal products for residues of veterinary medicines and plant products for the presence of myco- and plant toxins.
  • The results of your work form the basis for the lab managers to build upon.
  • You will work with various matrices and complex analytical methods, sometimes examining hundreds of components simultaneously.
  • You will carefully prepare samples through extraction and purification.
  • You will have considerable responsibility for how the work in the lab is organized.
  • Together with a team of about ten lab technicians, you will determine which analyses need to be done when, how to group them efficiently, and how to meet deadlines.
  • You will follow established procedures and quality requirements, but within that framework, we expect you to think independently, plan, and anticipate problems as much as possible.

  • Perform precise lab work where every step counts.
  • Work with challenging analyses and techniques such as LC-MS/MS.
  • Plan and collaborate in a pleasant team.
  • Maintain focus when working with complex solutions, mixtures, and analyses.
  • Contribute to reliable analysis results to support food safety.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology, Pharmaceutical and Biological Laboratory Technology, Agro- and Biotechnology, Nutrition and Dietetics, or equivalent.
  • For a foreign diploma: obtain an equivalence recognition upon employment (to be requested from NARIC Vlaanderen).
  • Fluent in spoken and written Dutch.

Practical

  • Permanent contract.
  • Employment in salary scale B111 (with a bachelor's degree).
