Communications Officer

A national non-profit organization fighting cardiovascular diseases is looking for an experienced communications officer to replace a colleague. You will start with an onboarding period and then take over all communications for the organization, including the preparation of a major national campaign.

What you do

  • Public campaigns: from briefing the creative agency to content, planning, printing, distribution, and contact with partners and health professionals (hospitals, general practitioners, patient associations). You will be involved in preparing a major national campaign.
  • Social media: daily management of various platforms. You create and write content, make medical information understandable for a broad audience, answer questions, and build the community.
  • Video: contribute to video content, from script to editing.
  • Press: establish contact with journalists (and, where appropriate, with influencers) to promote campaigns and positions.
  • Newsletter and website: write and send the monthly newsletter (using specific tools) and keep the website up-to-date, together with the webmaster.
  • Graphic design: flyers, posters, advertisements, letters, and visuals for social media.
  • Fundraising support: collaborate with the fundraising colleague on communication to donors and partners.
  • Daily follow-up: manage and send brochures, reprints, and public inquiries.

Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in communication, marketing, journalism, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a communications role and able to quickly work independently.
  • Fluent and error-free writing in both Dutch and French.
  • Thorough knowledge of social media, proficient with graphic software, and able to edit simple videos.
  • Experience with a national campaign is a strong asset.
  • Organized and accurate, with strict adherence to deadlines and schedules.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and strong communicator in contact with partners, press, and colleagues.
  • A team player with an eye for the people behind every story.
  • Shares the organization's values: scientific and independent information, accessible health education, prevention, and support for patients and their environment.
