Technical Consultant

UtrechtHybrid36 hours/week<3months

An organization is building the education of the future. Educational applications are developed that reinforce each other and impact the daily lives of educational institutions, teachers, and students. These applications facilitate, among other things, scheduling, curriculum recording, and the flow of data between different educational systems. As a consultant, you help educational institutions with complex integration and interface issues.

You advise on the best and safest setup of applications, ensuring that the software seamlessly connects to the existing IT environment. You do not write software code yourself but have a good understanding of data structures and interfaces to contribute substantively to integrations and translate them into a suitable setup for the client.

What you do

You are part of a consultancy team and work closely with integration specialists, consultants, development, and tech support. Your focus is on solving technical issues and securing this expertise within the team.

  • Technical analysis & integrations: analyze data flows and IT environments at clients (educational institutions). Contribute to the correct information architecture and interfaces to ensure systems connect properly.
  • Advice & client contact: advise educational institutions on configuration issues. Be the substantive discussion partner who can clearly explain technical choices and data structures to project leaders and IT managers.
  • Implementation & internal coordination: guide the actual setup of interfaces and applications. Provide training where necessary and coordinate functional and technical details with developers and support colleagues.

Profile

You are analytically inclined, understand how applications exchange data, and have an affinity for topics such as APIs and integrations. You don't need to be a developer yourself but understand the technology well enough to discuss at a high level with development and the client.

  • HBO/WO (higher professional education/university) working and thinking level, preferably with a background in (Business) Informatics, ICT & Media, Business IT & Management, or another relevant study.
  • Relevant work experience in a consultancy, implementation, or technical role where IT processes were central.
  • Affinity with data structures, interfaces (APIs), and integration issues.
  • Clear communication and the ability to explain technical choices understandably to clients and colleagues.
  • Experience within education or with educational logistics is a plus, but not a requirement.
