As an Income Consultant, you make a difference by supporting residents who are (temporarily) unable to provide for their own livelihood. You are the crucial link in the lawful and balanced implementation of the Participation Act. You assess applications for social assistance benefits and special assistance, accurately applying laws and regulations while keeping the human dimension in mind.
What you will do.
- Assess applications for social assistance benefits and special assistance
- Apply laws and regulations with consideration for the individual situation
- Manage your own caseload of residents applying for or receiving social assistance
- Serve as the point of contact for questions regarding social assistance
- Process applications and conduct reassessments
- Process all signals and mutations related to determining the right to and the amount of (special) social assistance
- Inform residents about rules (obligations) and explain possibilities (rights)
- Provide customized solutions where necessary
- Conduct interviews with residents, investigate, report, and make decisions on submitted applications, changes, terminations, revisions
- Collaborate closely with other colleagues within a municipal department, such as Employment, Debt Counseling, Integration, Recovery consultants, and the benefits administration
- Collaborate with enforcement and other chain partners in the social field
- Work with the "reversed assessment" methodology for decision-making in complex cases, focusing on the desired effect/result and existential security based on trust
Profile

- Awareness of requirements, standards, and priorities for the product to be delivered
- Team player
What they ask
- Completed relevant HBO education (Social Legal Services, Social Work, or Social Work and Services)
- Preferably broad knowledge and experience as an Income Consultant, special assistance, and related minimum schemes
- Preferably experience with specific municipal systems for income and administration
- Preferably experience with independently managing a caseload
- Good command of the Dutch language (oral and written) to explain the Participation Act and related regulations to residents
