As a social psychiatric nurse, you provide responsible care, treatment, and guidance to detainees with psychiatric problems. You contribute to reducing recidivism within this group. You are involved in all phases of detention, from arrival to departure from the penitentiary institution. You are committed to improving the quality of psychiatric care. You work in a unique setting with a challenging target group, offering a future perspective to detainees struggling with complex psychiatric issues.
What you do
- Establish contact with detainees and assess the necessary form of guidance and (group) treatment
- Potentially conduct crisis assessments and crisis guidance
- Work autonomously from the Psycho-Medical Consultation (PMC) and take on a connecting and coordinating role with internal and external partners, within judicial frameworks
- Seek solutions outside existing paths
- Actively participate in consultation forms such as the Care Coordination Consultation (CCC) and the Extra Care Provision Consultation (ECPC)
- Adopt an actively participating, educational, and coaching attitude towards the staff of the ECPC care department
- In collaboration with the case manager, timely prepare and initiate necessary (follow-up) care trajectories
- (Co-)determine indications in the field of housing facilities, day activities, and care, all based on psychiatric problems
What they ask
- Completed HBO (higher professional education) SPV or equivalent
- Nurse with a BIG registration (Dutch healthcare professionals register)
- Own expertise, skills, and professional attitude with current registration in the quality register
- Preferably, knowledge and experience in the forensic psychiatric field and knowledge of the legal status of detainees
