Data Design Advisor

A government organization is seeking temporary support for the Image team within the Communication department.

• The role involves guiding and managing a Junior Graphic Designer.

What you will do.

• Provide strategic advice, solicited or unsolicited, on the visualization of information and data, including:
• Determining appropriate visual means for target groups.
• Advising on which information/data to visualize and which not.
• Establishing the best visual storytelling based on information and data.
• Assessing the impact of visual means (infographics, data visualization, digital communication tools).
• Translate policy documents into accessible visual information for a broad audience, in collaboration with the Junior Graphic Designer.
• Guide and collegially manage a Junior Graphic Designer in the design process, by:
• Discussing the approach to tasks and assignments.
• Determining the feasibility of deadlines and managing them.
• Reviewing sketches.
• Evaluating concepts.
• Supporting coordination with policy colleagues.
• Engaging in professional sparring.

What they ask

• Minimum of a completed higher professional education (hbo) degree.
• Minimum of 2 years demonstrable experience as a designer with the Dutch Government's corporate identity (Rijkshuisstijl).
• Minimum of 2 years experience with Adobe software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Preferences.

• Demonstrable experience in managing and/or guiding junior colleagues in a design process.
• Demonstrable experience in advising on politically/administratively complex policy topics.
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of design and translating complex information into visual means.
