What you will do.
- You will conduct complex archive research in the organization's large and rich archive. If requested, you will also work in systems outside the department.
- You will share search results with authorized colleagues within the organization and with third parties based on relevant laws and regulations (Open Government Act, General Data Protection Regulation, or Archives Act).
- You will also serve as a point of contact and coordinator for information requests from both within and outside the organization, for example in the case of parliamentary inquiries or investigative committees.
- You will be the first point of contact for information requests regarding the operations of the national armed forces.
- You will coordinate the research strategy and work planning for information requests with information employees.
- You will proactively locate information based on events involving the organization.
- You will provide information to (scientific) researchers within and outside the organization about available military-historical source material.
- Your challenge is to combine and deliver usable information from various physical and digital sources in dissimilar structures to answer questions.
- You will follow current events regarding the operational deployment of national armed forces units, allowing you to quickly place information requests in the correct context.
- You will collaborate and share knowledge with internal and external partners to deliver timely and customized results.
- You are interested in developments in AI and advanced use of search engines and are able to apply such innovations in your work.
- You will advise on the disclosure of information through new techniques.
- Finally, you will administratively support archive research by collecting usage and experience data in the form of research files and automated access.
- You will ensure verifiability by carefully recording and checking source research.
- You will collect production data and key figures for preparing progress reports.

- HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level, preferably in the field of Information Management, Information Science, or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
Profile
- Extensive experience working in an information and archive management environment.
- Experience in data analysis, including developing queries, and IT.
- Insight into the structure, properties, and content of existing archive files.
- Familiarity with relevant parts of laws and regulations.
- Ability to analyze and relate texts.
- Ability to determine users' information needs.
- Knowledge and skill in handling automation and technical tools.
- Passive knowledge of foreign languages.
- Plus: Knowledge of the modern and historical organizational structure of a defense organization.
