Financial Controller

BrusselsHybrid40 hours/week<3months

You report to the Head of Finance and will join the controlling team (along with two other colleagues).

  • You will be responsible for the budgetary monitoring of the services of a cultural organization, in close collaboration with the operational teams.

What you do

  • You support and advise departments in the construction, development, and periodic revision of their budgets, ensuring their coherence and alignment with institutional objectives.
  • You update the budget monitoring software and daily verify the commitment of expenses and their correct analytical allocation (from purchase order to invoicing in accounting).
  • You maintain regular communication with operational teams and monitor their budgets, informing/alerting them about the evolution of their expenses to ensure optimal control.
  • You provide reporting tools to the departments you support and are their point of contact for explanations of these tools.
  • You participate in interim and annual accounting closings, in collaboration with the Head of Finance and the department's colleagues.
  • You propose and carry out analyses at the request of the departments or the Head of Finance.
  • You identify any dysfunctions or gaps in procedures and propose improvement solutions.

Profile

  • You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in economics, management, finance, or a related field.
  • You have a good basic knowledge of accounting.
  • You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in controlling, ideally in a cultural environment.
  • You have a very good command of Excel and strong analytical skills (ability to create and analyze pivot tables); experience working with an ERP system is a plus.
  • You are familiar with Business Intelligence systems, budget planning tools, and accounting software.
  • You enjoy working with numbers and analyzing large databases.
  • You are fluent in French or Dutch and have a good knowledge of the other official language. English is an asset.
  • You are rigorous, methodical, proactive, and autonomous.
  • You have good interpersonal skills, a team spirit, and are used to working with many colleagues with very different profiles.
  • You are diplomatic, attentive, and have good communication skills.
  • You have an interest in the performing arts sector.
