Technical Manager
An organization is a terminal operator, specialized in the storage and handling of bulk products. From multiple terminals, they combine technical expertise with a no-nonsense approach and a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and operational excellence. In this Seveso environment, a strong technical department forms the backbone of the continuity and reliability of installations and processes.
To elevate the maintenance organization to the next level, the organization is looking for a driven professional to take on the role of Technical Manager.
What you do
As Technical Manager, you determine and direct the maintenance and asset management policy of the organization. You translate the business strategy into a long-term vision and elevate the department to a higher level by focusing on digitalization, automation, and preventive/predictive maintenance. You act as a true entrepreneur and build bridges between departments to achieve a shared vision. You are responsible for:
- Outlining and implementing the strategic maintenance and asset management policy, in line with the business strategy and strict quality and safety standards (e.g., SEVESO, ATEX, and ISO)
- Managing, coaching, and developing the technical team, consisting of internal technicians, a supervisor
- Managing the departmental budget, monitoring it and substantiating investment decisions with pragmatic business cases
- Evaluating and following up on suppliers and subcontractors, including conducting negotiations on indexations, among other things, in collaboration with the purchasing department
- Initiating improvement and optimization projects with a focus on efficiency, sustainability
- Setting up cross-departmental collaborations and maintaining internal stakeholder management at all levels
- Reporting directly to the plant manager and working closely and pragmatically with your peers in the organization
Profile
You are a decisive and entrepreneurial leader who runs the department as if it were your own company. With your forward-thinking and solution-oriented mindset, you make decisions quickly and know how to connect people. You are therefore a people manager who motivates teams and instills trust. At the same time, you think strategically with an eye for the total cost of ownership. We are looking for someone with:
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., electromechanics or industrial sciences), or equivalent by experience
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in maintenance, of which several years in a leadership and/or strategic role
- Proven experience with change processes and professionalization of maintenance processes
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards; experience in an industrial or Seveso environment is a plus, while an innovative perspective from another sector is also truly valued
- Fluent communication in Dutch and a good knowledge of English
