You will work at the intersection of care and safety within a specialized psychiatric center. Due to the opening of a new care unit, the team is expanding. You will contribute to good forensic care and a safe, professional treatment environment.
What you will do.
- Guide individuals with complex psychiatric issues.
- Provide support to patients with various psychiatric conditions and/or intellectual disabilities.
- Find the right balance between proximity, guidance, and safety, depending on individual care needs.
- Provide daily guidance, observe behavior, and signal changes in patients' situations.
- Set boundaries, provide support, and offer space when necessary, always keeping the person behind the issues in mind.
- Work according to the Forensic High & Intensive Care (F-HIC) methodology, focusing on safety, patient contact, escalation prevention, and appropriate care.
- Be responsible for a group of patients, including handover, guidance during daily activities (appointments, visits, sports).
- Ensure medication is administered, appointments run smoothly, and safety in the unit is maintained.
- Act as a mentor for patients within the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Report findings, contribute to discussions on guidance and treatment, and play a role in the patients' recovery process.
- Combine professional care with personal attention for recovery and a safer society.
What they ask
- Minimum MBO-4 diploma in a care-related field: Personal supervisor for disabled care or specific target groups/Social care, specialized pedagogical employee childcare, youth or socio-cultural worker, or social service provider.
- Preferably (work) experience with a complex target group within psychiatry and/or forensic care.
- Knowledge of group dynamics, conflict management, and guiding people with psychiatric issues.
- Ability to observe, signal, and report behavior.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Empathy and ability to relate to patients' backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to maintain professional distance while building a trusting relationship.
- Mentally and physically resilient.
- Flexible, loyal, and comfortable working in a secure environment and with irregular shifts.
- Willingness to further develop within forensic care and deepen knowledge of methodologies such as the F-HIC methodology.
Practical
- A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required; the costs will be reimbursed.
- A physical aptitude test (sports test) and medical examination are part of the application procedure.
- In the first six months, you will follow the Basic Professional Training (2 x 3 weeks full-time).
- Onboarding by an experienced colleague.
- Opportunity for a shadowing day in the unit.
- An assessment and reference check may be part of the procedure.
