Education Assistant
As an education assistant, you support the teacher and guide students who are deaf or hard of hearing. In a class of approximately 8 to 10 students, you tailor the curriculum and teaching method to each child. You work together with fellow teachers, speech therapists, internal supervisors, sign language teachers, and other specialists as one team around the child. If you do not yet master Dutch Sign Language or Dutch supported by Signs, you will receive extra guidance and training.
What you will do. With your student guidance and educational support, you contribute to achieving the learning objectives of our students. You adapt your approach to the talents, possibilities, and situation of each individual student.
- Provide guidance for practicing subject matter and/or skills, one-on-one or in subgroups.
- Where necessary, offer daily care and support for general daily living activities.
- Contribute to the organization of school and educational activities.
- Depending on the target group, also support lighter care tasks.
What they ask You are expressive in your communication and can convey subject matter in a lively manner. It is important that you know yourself well and can reflect on your own actions.
- At least a completed MBO-4 (intermediate vocational education level 4) degree as an education assistant.
- Experience with the target group is a plus.
- Enthusiasm to learn Dutch Sign Language.
