A major organization operating critical infrastructure and utility services in Belgium is seeking an experienced Telephony Technical Lead & Systems Engineer to join its Infrastructure & Operations team. You will act as the technical expert for IP telephony solutions, supporting both strategic transformation projects and day-to-day operational activities. The role combines technical leadership, solution design, infrastructure expertise, and operational support within a complex enterprise environment.
You will join a highly skilled infrastructure department responsible for maintaining and modernizing mission-critical IT and operational technology platforms. The team supports large-scale digital transformation initiatives while ensuring operational excellence and service reliability.
What you will do. Project & Transformation Activities:
- Design and define telephony infrastructure solutions in collaboration with architects, engineers, and security teams.
- Lead technical decision-making for telephony-related projects.
- Support the modernization and evolution of enterprise telephony platforms.
- Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, resilience, security, and performance.
- Coordinate technical activities across multidisciplinary teams.
Operational Activities:
- Ensure high availability and performance of telephony services.
- Provide expert support during incidents and complex troubleshooting activities.
- Lead root cause investigations and problem management initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement and optimization of the telephony environment.
- Act as the go-to expert for telephony technologies and infrastructure services.
What they ask
- Minimum 7 years of experience with IP Telephony solutions.
- Proven experience as a Technical Lead within infrastructure or development projects.
- Strong background in Solution Design.
- Recent involvement in IP Telephony projects within the last 2 years.
- Extensive knowledge of:
- SIP and VoIP technologies
- Enterprise telephony platforms
- Routing, switching, and IP networking
- Firewall management
- Infrastructure architecture and design
- Experience leading and coordinating technical teams.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Fluent communication skills in English and either French or Dutch, with a strong passive knowledge of the other national language.
Nice-to-have.
- Experience within the Utilities, Energy, or Critical Infrastructure sector.
- Knowledge of Check Point firewalls.
- Experience with Mitel / MiCollab environments.
- Experience with Solidus solutions.
- Experience with voice recording platforms.
- Development, testing, and debugging experience.
