Flow Coach

North BrabantHybrid34 hours/week<3months

Young people sometimes get stuck at school, in their work, or in other areas of their lives. At such a moment, personal guidance can make all the difference. As a Flow Coach, you guide young people aged 16 to 27 towards education, work, or another path that suits them. You are a coach, director, and connector all at once. You listen to their story, map out the situation, and together draw up a personal future plan. You work closely with schools, employers, government organizations, and social partners.

With your commitment and decisiveness, you help young people move forward and contribute to reducing early school leaving in a specific region.

What you will do. As a Flow Coach, you guide young people and young adults in finding a suitable place in education, work, or another development path. You look beyond the initial request for help. Together with the young person, you investigate what is going on, what possibilities exist, and what is needed to make sustainable progress.

You draw up a personal future plan and help the young person to implement this plan step by step, encouraging them to make their own choices and take responsibility for their future. You are involved and approachable, but also dare to be clear when necessary.

Your activities include:

  • Guiding young people aged 16 to 27 towards education, work, or another suitable path
  • Drawing up a personal future plan together with the young person
  • Motivating young people to take control of their development and future
  • Addressing absenteeism among young people aged 16 and older with schools and collaborative partners
  • Actively contributing to preventing and reducing early school leaving
  • Investigating what is happening in various areas of life, such as education, work, housing, finances
  • Deploying appropriate interventions, instruments, or tests when necessary
  • Managing cases and monitoring the progress of agreements made
  • Organizing and leading case consultations with involved professionals and organizations
  • Coordinating with schools, employers, government organizations, and aid agencies
  • Advising partners on issues related to education, transition
  • Identifying bottlenecks in policy or implementation and making them discussable
  • Participating in projects that further improve the service delivery

What they ask You understand the world of young people and know how to build trust. You listen without immediate judgment and ask the necessary questions to get to the core. At the same time, you keep the goal in mind. You don't help young people by taking over everything, but by motivating them to take steps themselves. You can switch between different interests and maintain an overview when a situation becomes complicated. You communicate clearly with young people and professionals.

You are resilient, think in possibilities, and dare to look for a solution that works outside existing frameworks.

  • At least a completed HBO (higher professional education) degree, preferably focused on Social Work, Applied Psychology, or a similar field
  • Experience in guiding or coaching young people
  • Knowledge of the world and developmental issues of young people
  • Knowledge of educational offerings and the labor market
  • Ability to work independently and actively seek collaboration
  • Flexible, solution-oriented
  • Ability to manage situations involving multiple organizations

Preferences.

  • Experience with the activities of a regional flow point is a plus
  • Preferably familiar with the social map of the relevant region

Practical aspects. You will work within a regional flow point, which is part of a regional compulsory education bureau. Together, you work to prevent early school leaving and improve development opportunities for young people. The common goal is to help young people as quickly and as close as possible to a suitable place in education or work. You will join a committed and professional team of flow coaches, compulsory education officers, administrative staff, and team leaders.

Trust, collaboration, and results are central. Outside the team, you will collaborate extensively with schools, regional government organizations, employers, and aid agencies. You connect these different worlds, ensuring that information is shared, agreements are clear, and everyone contributes to the young person's future perspective. In this role, you will have the freedom to take initiative and contribute ideas.
