GZ psychologist

As a GZ-psychologist, you help detainees who need a listening ear or a long-term treatment trajectory. You also advise staff of a correctional facility on how to approach detainees with psychiatric problems, contributing to an optimal living environment and better reintegration. You work towards a safer society by guiding people in building a socially acceptable existence after detention.
What you do
- Work in a multidisciplinary team on the mental health care of individual detainees within a correctional facility.
- Focus care on stabilization, recovery, and reintegration.
- Commit to improving the general detention climate and contributing to safe detention.
- Provide direction and content to mental health care within the institution.
- Be responsible for psychological interventions, diagnostics, treatment, and indication setting for detainees with psycho-medical care needs.
- Always work according to the principles of forensic risk management, including risk assessment and delinquency analysis from a criminal law framework.
- Diagnose and treat detainees.
- Guide aftercare.
- Consult with your team and coordinate.
- Maintain control over treatment when external experts are involved.
- Be responsible for optimal care processes and risk management, and oversee the best possible facilitation.
- Ensure coherence and coordination of activities between care disciplines and (living) departments from a psycho-medical perspective.
- Coordinate care and be responsible for diagnostics and classification according to DSM.
What they ask
- A university degree in clinical and/or forensic psychology.
- A valid BIG registration.
- Affinity with the forensic target group.
- Knowledge of risk assessment instruments and delinquency analysis, or willingness to be trained in this.
- Strong analytical skills, communicative, integrity, and a good team player.
- Flexible, able to professionally substantiate your viewpoints, and continuously develop professionally.
- Experience with clinical psychology and the legal aspects of deprivation of liberty is a plus.
