Outpatient Family Therapist Child and Youth
Working as an outpatient family therapist at a healthcare organization means working with children, young people, and families who have often experienced a lot. No family is the same. It is precisely this complexity that makes the work interesting. You look beyond the complaint or behavior and, together with families and colleagues, search for what lies beneath the surface. You work where it happens: at home, at school, and in the family's living environment.
This allows you to immediately see what helps and truly make a difference when families are struggling. Together with colleagues, you tackle issues related to development, psychological problems, parenting, and family dynamics. The combination of specialized care, independence, and collaboration makes this work special.
What you will do. As an outpatient family therapist, you will work with children, young people, and their families as part of a multidisciplinary treatment process. You will be on the road a lot and work in the family's living environment, but you are never alone. Your activities include:
- Home visits, observations, and conversations with children, young people, and parents.
- Guiding families in recognizing and breaking patterns.
- Collaborating with schools, neighborhood teams, and other involved aid workers.
- Participating in diagnostic discussions, multidisciplinary meetings, and treatment evaluations.
- Weekly case discussions with colleagues and systemic therapists.
- Contributing to the development of the team and the outpatient treatment offering.
- Depending on experience: fulfilling the role of treatment coordinator.
