As a Forest Ranger Ecology, you are, together with a colleague, the ecological authority within the team of a nature organization. You effortlessly switch between policy and practice and know how to involve others in your ecological vision.
What you will do.
- Monitor the management cycle, steer planning, and initiate area visions and quality assessments.
- Organize monitoring, both with volunteers and through external agencies.
- Initiate improvements in nature quality through ecological research, external lobbying, and the development of project proposals.
- Provide ecological advice: advise, solicited and unsolicited, on nature management and support colleagues in communication, nature experience, and policy processes.
- Provide substantive expertise to projects focused on nature restoration, reinforcement, and development, and conduct analyses for substantiation.
- Contribute to the implementation of policies, such as Natura 2000, WFD, and the Nature Management Plan.
- Maintain contacts with governments, research institutions, land managers, and researchers, and actively build a relevant network and strong collaborations.
Profile
- Strong ecological field knowledge: sharing and keeping up with developments, knowledge, and experience in ecology is in your nature. At least 5 years of experience in the practical application of this in nature management.
- Empathy: in your advice, you consider different perspectives of parties with diverse interests, without losing sight of your own role. Internally, you empathize with colleagues' choices regarding nature management.
- Analytical skills: analyze and interpret ecological data to evaluate and advise on effective measures and activities. Assess the quality of permits, ecological research, and the effectiveness of measures.
- Written communication skills: play an important role in drafting ecological visions, quality assessments, NRDs, and other policy documents. Write clear, structured, and convincing texts, often in collaboration with Public Affairs staff.
