Permit Officer N2000

A government organization is looking for three senior permit officers for a period of at least one year. The assignment involves carrying out statutory duties within a challenging field of tension, where an integrated approach and coordination with other policy departments are essential. The role focuses on attracting juniors who need coaching and guidance, managing the increase in complex cases, and developing policy. The senior permit officer works under the leadership and supervision of the Permit Team Manager.

What you will do.

• First point of contact for the team and colleagues from outside the department.
• Maintain contact with other authorities, internal departments, and external partners.
• Ensure smooth communication and timely identification of bottlenecks.
• Make timely and high-quality decisions on complex permit applications, with a focus on the nitrogen dossier and sensitive social projects.
• Contribute to team development by sharing knowledge, training colleagues, and monitoring the work process.
• Provide strategic advice on nitrogen policy and social issues to senior civil servants and the executive board.
• Assist in the development and implementation of nitrogen policy rules, including monitoring systems.
• Stay informed of developments in the field and translate these into permit issuance.

What they ask

• Minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience (gained between 2018 and present) as an N2000 Permit Officer.
• Fully up-to-date knowledge of developments in the Nitrogen Dossier (national and regional).
• Demonstrable experience (gained between 2018 and present) as a senior in coaching and guiding juniors (content and soft skills).
• Demonstrable knowledge of and/or experience with the nitrogen offsetting policy rules, as established by the provincial executive, and the ability to interpret and translate these into implementation.

Wishes.

• Demonstrable experience in drafting, translating, and implementing new policy, to be shown with practical examples (minimum 2 assignments/projects).
• Demonstrable experience in coaching and guiding junior permit officers on all aspects (industrial, agricultural, and legal), to be shown with practical examples (minimum 2 assignments/projects).
• At least a completed HBO (higher professional education) degree.
