Datacenter and Cloud Domain Architect

South HollandHybrid34 hours/week<3months

Within a government organization, the ICT landscape is being renewed, shifting from classic datacenters to a highly automated, open-source hybrid cloud platform. As a Cloud Domain Architect, you are the expert who shapes this modernization. The goal is to translate the organization's ICT strategy into concrete architecture frameworks that will renew the entire datacenter and cloud landscape.

With expertise in cloud infrastructure, containerization, and frameworks such as TOGAF or NORA, you lay the foundation for secure and scalable public services. This strategy focuses on standardization, flexibility, and innovation, with open source, open standards, and future-proof technologies as its foundation.

The current datacenter platforms are being renewed and transitioned to a hybrid cloud platform based on open source technology, designed based on an integral architecture that drives a complete modernization of the datacenter. The environment is largely automated based on 'software-defined' solutions.

What you do

  • Further develop the integral architecture for the datacenter and cloud platform within your domain.
  • Develop and manage architecture building blocks, including landing zones and links with technical solutions, in close collaboration with solution architects.
  • Translate architecture frameworks into target architectures, solution directions, procurement strategies, and implementation plans.
  • Test initiatives, designs, and changes against established architecture principles and frameworks in the areas of ICT strategy, enterprise architecture, security, and identity and access management.
  • Perform impact and gap analyses and ensure consistent implementation of architecture components.
  • Prepare and chair domain meetings, and represent your domain in the architecture board.
  • Safeguard architectural knowledge through clear documentation and recording in architecture tooling.

What they ask

  • Minimum completed education in informatics, technical business administration, or a comparable field.
  • Demonstrable experience with domain architecture and developing architecture frameworks.
  • Experience with architecture methods and standards, such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, NORA, and COBIT.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire, relevant norms and standards, such as BIO2 and NIS2.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English.

Technical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of public and private cloud, container platforms such as Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Software-Defined Infrastructure, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Understanding of security in cloud environments and the ability to translate security principles into architecture frameworks.
  • Knowledge of multi-tenant datacenter networks.
  • Knowledge of classic datacenter environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge or experience with technologies used in datacenters, such as OpenShift, RHEL, Windows Server, VMware, and Cloud Foundry, is a plus.

Profile

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking, translating complex issues into clear frameworks.
  • Taking responsibility for content and results.
  • Ability to involve others in technical and strategic choices.
  • Connecting the interests of business, technology, and organization.
  • Eager to learn and actively contribute to improvement and innovation.

Practical

  • You are part of a team of domain architects within the directorate responsible for networks.
  • Intensive collaboration with solution architects, product managers, portfolio management, and the CTO.
  • The culture is professional, strong in content, and focused on collaboration.
  • There is room for debate, in-depth discussion, and joint decision-making.
  • Innovation and reliability go hand in hand.
  • Hybrid working is possible, aligned with activities and in consultation with your manager.
