IBM i (AS 400) Software Engineer

A technology company is looking for experienced IBM i (AS/400) developers to work on business-critical enterprise applications.

  • The team is expanding to support the development, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise applications.
  • Opportunities are available for developers with or without ARCAD experience, and for developers with Java experience.

What you will do.

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain business-critical applications.
  • Enhance existing systems through automation, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot production issues while ensuring application performance, security, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with business users, developers, project managers, and IT teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Produce technical documentation and support knowledge-sharing across teams.
  • Explore emerging technologies—including AI—to improve software quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

What they are looking for. Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent practical experience is also valued.

Experience:

  • Experience in software development and/or IT analysis.
  • Ability to convert business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience supporting and enhancing enterprise or business-critical applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills:

  • IBM i (AS/400)
  • RPG / RPGLE (preferred)
  • CL programming (preferred)
  • ARCAD (for applicable roles)
  • Java (for applicable roles)
  • Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Application maintenance and support
  • Business analysis
  • Technical documentation
