Some children need more: more structure, more proximity, and more space to grow at their own pace. In a residential group within a care organization, 10 children aged 8 – 15 with severe intellectual disabilities reside. These young people have character, potential, and care needs that require extra intensive guidance. This is where you, as a personal supervisor, can truly thrive.
What you will do.
- Switch between guidance styles, energies, behaviors, and communication methods.
- Read between the lines, even when there are no words.
- Support with ADL (Activities of Daily Living).
- Contribute ideas for daily activities.
- Perform actions such as epilepsy care and medication administration.
- Slow down, stimulate, and de-escalate situations when necessary.
- Always look at what is possible to make a difference.
Profile
- Stand firm, even with challenging behavior (which may manifest as aggression).
- Inspire and motivate others.
- Take ownership.
- Think in possibilities, even when things get tense.
- Have creative ideas to provide the children with a fun and valuable day.
What they ask
- A completed care education at a minimum of MBO 4 level, such as MZ.
- Experience with severe intellectual disabilities (SID) and/or challenging behavior.
- Affinity with children and their changing guidance needs and attachment issues.
- Knowledge of epilepsy care and medication, or willingness to learn this.
- Strong communication skills, also towards parents and other stakeholders.
- Humor, ability to put things into perspective, and a warm heart.
