Occupational Health Physician

As a physician within the Objection and Appeal department, you work with fellow physicians, occupational experts, and legal professionals within a results-oriented team. The first year is largely dedicated to the internal basic training in insurance medicine. You work under the supervision of an occupational health specialist. There is ample time for clients to reach a well-considered judgment.

This first year also offers room for further development of your advisory and communication skills and the motivation of decisions. After successfully completing the basic training, it will be jointly determined whether the training to become an occupational health specialist will be continued. You report to the department manager. As a physician, you are responsible for:

• Reconsidering the assessment in which the physician in the primary process has expressed their view on the client's capacity for work.
• Handling medical aspects of objection and (higher) appeal cases within the relevant legislation and jurisprudence, taking into account the social context.
• Determining the medical condition, weighing various factors, and providing a reasoned indication of whether the capacity for work has been correctly established.
• Providing a reconsideration of the medical aspects of the primary decision for objection, appeal, and higher appeal cases.
• Providing feedback/advice to the physicians in the primary process to improve the quality of decisions.
• Being responsible for the medical part of the decision-making under the supervision of the occupational health specialist.

• In the first year, there is an opportunity to follow an internal basic training in insurance medicine.
• After the basic training, specialization as an occupational health physician - insurance physician profile - can take place through a medical postgraduate training (MVO). This 4-year training is paid for by the organization. Exemptions are possible for medical specialists.
