Enforcement Lawyer

Within a government organization, daily situations on roads and waterways require sharp legal choices. As an enforcement lawyer, you advise on what is possible and what is prudent. You contribute to a safe and livable Netherlands.
What you do
- Advise enforcement officers on the correct approach in various situations, including prevention and violations.
- Ensure legally sound and well-substantiated enforcement decisions, in accordance with national frameworks.
- Maintain an overview of ongoing processes and ensure smooth procedural progress.
- Play an important role in objection and appeal procedures.
- Contribute to organizational development by considering process improvements and uniformity.
- Advise on appropriate interventions (warning, enforcing, tolerating).
- Review enforcement decisions and draft letters.
- Handle enforcement requests in collaboration with case managers.
- Clarify legal consequences and risks of choices for colleagues and management.
- Contribute to a uniform working method and identify improvement opportunities.
What they ask
- Completed university degree (WO), preferably in constitutional and administrative law.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in legal work, preferably in supervision, enforcement, or permitting.

- Advising: provide clear legal advice and clarify consequences/risks.
- Administrative sensitivity: understanding administrative relationships and the influence of interests/power dynamics in decision-making.
- Communication skills: clearly explain legal matters and easily interact with various target groups.
- Judgment: carefully weigh interests and arrive at well-substantiated decisions.
- Initiative: identify practical bottlenecks and address them proactively.
Practical
- A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required; costs will be reimbursed.
