Policy Advisor Climate, Energy, Nature & Environment

An organization is looking for a policy advisor for its research department. Climate, energy, nature, and environment are major political issues of our time. The role involves analyzing, advising, writing, and thinking ahead on these themes, close to political decision-making. It is a key substantive position within the organization.

What you will do.

• Closely follow new policy developments, legislation, and societal debates.
• Translate complex dossiers into sharp analyses, clear positions, and concrete policy proposals.
• Advise management, decision-makers, and other key figures within the organization.
• Contribute to the vision on major challenges within your policy domains.
• Anticipate opportunities and problems before they arise.
• Build a strong network of experts, organizations, companies, and other relevant players.
• Eagerly dive into new dossiers and quickly master complex subject matter.
• Write extensive policy notes and summarize dossiers.
• Transform ideas from your screen into political proposals.

What they ask

• Strong in content, curious, and quick-witted.
• Demonstrable knowledge of or experience with at least some of the domains of climate, energy, nature, and environment.
• Actively follow the political and societal debate on these topics.
• Higher education degree, preferably at master's level.
• Write clearly, convincingly, and to the point.
• Quickly distinguish main issues from secondary ones.
• Combine analytical depth with a sense of political and societal feasibility.
• Critical, but always solution-oriented.
• Work independently and take initiative spontaneously.
• Function equally well alone behind your screen as in consultation with colleagues and external experts.
• Discreet, reliable, and accurate.
• Affinity with the philosophy and direction of the organization.
• Experience in politics or a research department is a plus, but not a requirement.
