The project is carried out in collaboration with a broad consortium consisting of various educational institutions. It addresses the question of how aging primary schools can be renovated to be technologically sustainable, provide a healthy learning environment for children, and enhance biodiversity in the surrounding area.
What you will do.
- You will map the opportunities for biodiversity and investigate primary school children's perceptions of the flora and fauna around them.
- Your activities will include literature research, data analysis, visiting school classes for data collection, and mapping biodiversity at the involved schools.
- You will shape the different phases of your postdoc trajectory in collaboration with the project manager.
- You will actively share your findings through scientific publications, presentations, and co-creation sessions with partners.
- You will have the opportunity to teach, for example, by supervising interns or giving guest lectures.
Profile
- Affinity with and knowledge of Dutch biodiversity and an interest in the interface between nature and society, particularly primary education.
- Capable of conducting independent research, working systematically, and structuring your approach.
- Accurate, persistent, and not afraid to ask for help when needed and to ask critical questions to progress.
- Enjoys collaborating with colleagues or external partners and actively maintains your internal and external network.
- Identifies opportunities and knows how to engage others with your ideas.
- Able to translate complex subject matter into an engaging story, even for non-scientific audiences.
What they ask
- A completed PhD in life sciences, such as biology, or science communication.
- Experience with publishing research results – for example, through scientific articles, lectures, conferences, or in education.
- Good command of both Dutch and English, enabling effortless communication with international colleagues and the target audience.
