Spokesperson
Society, media, and the communication profession are developing rapidly. As a spokesperson, you are aware of these developments and apply this knowledge in your work. You identify opportunities and threats in the external environment that affect the reputation of a public sector organization. Based on your analysis and approach, you provide advice and handle communication for (complex) communication issues and impactful cases.
What you do
- Coach colleagues and line management on spokesperson duties and social media.
- Initiate and maintain contact with relevant internal and external stakeholders and participate in national networks.
- Participate in on-call duty (24/7) after an induction period.
- Make current phenomena or complex, strategic topics accessible to a large audience and through the right channels.
- Conduct internal inquiries and liaise with external partners, such as the Public Prosecution Service and spokespersons from other units.
- Guide specialists during media attention and occasionally speak to the media in uniform yourself.
- Monitor external reporting about the organization and contribute communicatively.
- Contribute ideas for communication actions and advise on content, target audience, and appropriate communication tools.
- Go from idea to execution and deliver products.
Profile
- Energetically tackle topics that are current in the media or will soon be in the public eye.
- Knowledge of the latest (social) media developments and closely follow the news.
- Be alert to relevant social and political current events and effectively utilize this knowledge.
- Be flexible, stress-resistant, and able to handle deadlines well.
- Possess good editorial skills and aim for the right effect in language and tone.
- Always be aware of the political-administrative environment.
- Know what is happening in the various parts of the organization and adopt a connecting role.
- Build and maintain an external network.
- Work systematically, create overview, and maintain calm.
- Knowledge and experience with crisis communication and reputation management.
- Advise executives and strategic leaders on strategic media approach and spokesperson duties.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
What they ask
- HBO (bachelor) working and thinking level, preferably in communication or journalism.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a spokesperson.
- Driving license B.
Practical
You will work within a Communication department (19 FTE), in a Media and Publicity Team (4 FTE). This team is responsible 24/7 for spokesperson duties and advice on investigation, incidents, themes, and issues within the unit. The team supports, advises, and coaches operational colleagues, line managers, and unit management on media and public communication. It identifies and monitors issues, maintains contacts with the media and chain partners, and plays a role in reporting during crises and disasters.
The atmosphere within the Communication department is informal, with much mutual contact and coordination.
