Asset Manager Civil Engineering Structures

As an Asset Manager Civil Engineering Structures, you are the point of contact for management and administration regarding your asset portfolio. As the ultimate responsible party, you manage the technical and financial aspects within your management discipline, which focuses on fixed civil engineering structures.

Within the team, you are supported by four asset managers, each responsible for an object group (e.g., bridges, heritage, quays and embankments, movable bridges, and specials) and by clients who manage your programs and projects. You oversee the main lines and adjust where necessary. In addition, you collaborate with:

• an operational team of approximately 15 colleagues who arrange inspections and are responsible for daily maintenance; they are managed by a team leader.
• an internal engineering firm.

There are large programs and replacement assignments underway, and new laws and regulations are in effect. At the same time, the team is in full development. You maintain an overview and ensure coherence. Your activities include:

• Contributing to the strategic development of public space policy for civil engineering structures;
• Advising management, directorate, and, where necessary, the board;
• Ensuring current, reliable, and complete asset information, such as insight into nature, scope, condition, and necessary measures;
• Managing major maintenance and replacements together with the Civil Engineering Structures client;
• Intensive coordination with the internal engineering firm, colleagues from Mobility, and other stakeholders within the organization;
• Managing annual plans for inspections and regular maintenance together with the asset managers, supported by a Structures team;
• Coordinating with other organizational units within the organization and collaborating with external parties such as railway administrators and national water managers;
• Collaborating with asset managers from other disciplines on cross-disciplinary considerations and improving asset management throughout the chain;
• Providing substantive guidance to the operational team in close cooperation with the team leader.

• Minimum HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level in the civil engineering field;
• Several years of experience with civil engineering structures at the policy and programming level;
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards within the field;
• The ability to be a discussion partner for management and to smoothly switch between operations, projects, and strategic issues;
• The ability to handle environmental pressure and to advise independently;
• A strong focus on collaboration, alignment, and coordination;
• Financial awareness and affinity with data management and analysis;
• Experience with movable or fixed civil engineering structures is a plus and partly determines your area of focus within the team.

You will work in a group focused on Roads, Structures, and Installations, part of the Public Space Management department. You will work under the guidance of the Policy & Program team leader and collaborate closely with colleagues from a Civil Structures team, managers of other disciplines, and other organizational units. The group consists of approximately 100 professionals who are dedicated with expertise and enthusiasm to a safe, accessible, and attractive urban environment.
