Research Project Manager

This assignment contributes to projects focused on the development of new knowledge about and for immersive experiences. The program aims to achieve a leading international position in the field of Immersive Experiences (IX) through innovation, knowledge development, entrepreneurship, and societal impact. Within this framework, creative professionals, knowledge institutions, companies, and governments collaborate on the future of the digital and physical world, with a strong focus on safeguarding public values.

What you do

As a project manager, you are responsible for the tactical-operational coordination, knowledge sharing, and connection of research activities within a national program. You guide the research schemes of a research funder, ensure that knowledge and results from research projects find their way to the broader field, and connect the various research activities within the program. You work closely with the research funder, a stimulation fund, research partners, and colleagues within the program.

You oversee the various research activities, identify relevant insights and results, and ensure they are utilized at the right time and by the right target groups. You are the daily point of contact within the program team for research and report to the program director.

Tasks and responsibilities.

  • Coordination of the substantive direction of research schemes (START, KERN, and PRO calls) in collaboration with a research funder.
  • Managing the research agenda.
  • Monitoring planning, deliverables, decision-making, and progress.
  • Coordinating with the research funder and relevant colleagues on content, execution, and progress.
  • Identifying and addressing bottlenecks and risks, and reporting on these to the program director.
  • Organizing knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Connecting research projects with other consortia and relevant partners.
  • Identifying relevant results, insights, and methodologies and ensuring they are shared and utilized within the program and the broader field.
  • Monitoring progress and results and reporting on relevant KPIs.
  • Coordinating with communication and events regarding the dissemination of research results.
  • Identifying substantive coherence, overlap, and opportunities for collaboration with innovation, demonstration, and other activities.
  • Maintaining contacts with relevant stakeholders in vocational, higher professional, and academic education.
  • Contributing to program accountability.

What they ask

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably at the intersection of research, creative industry, and technology application.
  • Experience with coordinating public-private partnerships.
  • Familiarity with the domain of immersive experiences and the creative industry.
  • Preferably, a network in the Dutch practice-oriented research field for the creative industry (HBO and WO).
  • Strong in tactical-operational execution: planning, roadmaps, decision-making, KPIs, risk monitoring.
  • Ability to build and maintain both an operational and strategic network.
  • Understanding of administrative relations and environmental awareness.
  • Pleasant collaboration and contribution to a shared result.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch and good written command of English.
