Quality Assurance Engineer
Are you able to review an engineering plan and determine if it can actually proceed to fabrication? We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer for a Belgian industrial player involved in international projects. You will work directly at the interface between the Engineering, Quality, Fabrication, and Construction departments.
Your responsibility: to ensure that technical plans and deliverables are compliant, consistent, and truly constructible before being transmitted to the client, purchasing, the workshop, or the construction site. You possess true quality authority: a non-compliant deliverable does not pass. The mission concerns complex projects in the Data Centers, industry, energy, chemical, pharmaceutical, and Oil & Gas sectors.
What you do
- Review, challenge, and validate deliverables produced by the design office.
- Primary expertise in: mechanics, metallic structures, piping, welding, pressure equipment.
- Ability to also check the general consistency of multidisciplinary interfaces, particularly electrical ones.
- Work daily with engineers, draftsmen, QA/QC teams, fabrication managers, and site teams.
Responsibilities.
- Review and validation of GA plans, fabrication plans, metallic structures, isometric drawings, pipe supports, and welding plans.
- Review of technical specifications and calculation notes.
- Control of compliance with client requirements, Codes & Standards, and quality procedures.
- Verification of the constructibility of proposed solutions.
- Control of bolted and welded assemblies.
- Validation of WPS, PQR, and WPQ.
- Definition and control of NDT requirements: VT, MT, PT, UT, RT.
- Preparation and follow-up of ITP, QCP, and review checklists.
- Management of Hold Points and Witness Points.
- Review of material certificates EN 10204, MRB, NDT reports, and FAT.
- Participation in Design Reviews and constructibility reviews.
- RCA/CAPA analyses and Lessons Learned.
- Technical challenging of Engineering teams when necessary.
- May also be required to review certain electrical deliverables such as single-line diagrams, cable routing, and cable trays to ensure overall project consistency.
Technical authority.
- Refuse a plan.
- Request its correction.
- Block its distribution.
- Challenge an Engineering decision.
- Escalate a critical point to QA/QC or Engineering management.
Profile
- Master's degree in mechanical, electromechanical, industrial engineering, or equivalent.
- At least 7 years of experience in QA Engineering / Engineering Quality.
- Experience on several projects, ideally a minimum of 3.
- Solid experience in reviewing fabrication plans and engineering documentation.
- Expertise in mechanics, metallic structures, and/or piping.
- Good knowledge of welding and welded fabrication.
- Site, workshop, or fabrication experience.
- Excellent command of French and English.
- Experience in modular construction is a significant asset.
Technical environment.
- Familiar with several of the following standards: ISO 9001, EN 1090, ISO 3834, ASME Section IX, AWS, EN 10204, WPS / PQR / WPQ, NDT, ITP / QCP, FAT, MRB, RCA / CAPA.
- Comfortable with reading: fabrication plans, workshop plans, welding plans, structural plans, isometric piping, 3D models.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, Autodesk Plant 3D, Navisworks, or Autodesk Construction Cloud is an advantage.
