Ambulatory Behavioral Specialist

Working within the mental health polyclinics of an expertise center, focused on specialized diagnostics and treatment.

  • Target group: children and adolescents (under 18 years) with psychological complaints and (a suspicion of) a mild intellectual disability, including their family.
  • Part of a close-knit multidisciplinary treatment team including psychiatrists, (GZ-)psychologists, orthopedagogues (-generalists), behavioral scientists, and systemic therapists.
  • Flexible working environment: at the polyclinic, at home, at school, or other relevant locations.
  • Short lines of communication between therapists and management.
  • The expertise center contributes nationally to the best possible care for people with intellectual disabilities and stimulates learning, deepening, and innovation.

What you will do.

  • Execute intensive ambulatory treatment trajectories within families with complex support needs.
  • Work methodically and goal-oriented on behavioral change, strengthening parenting skills, and improving systemic dynamics.
  • Support the behavioral scientist and contribute to a good life for children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Combine diagnostic insights with system-oriented treatment interventions.
  • Collaborate intensively with parents, children, their network, and other involved professionals.
  • Coordinate complex treatment trajectories and analyze family and parenting dynamics.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions from IAG (Intensive Ambulatory Family Treatment) and system-oriented work.
  • Identify risks and act adequately in safety issues, such as domestic violence and neglect.
  • Perform screening and assessment together with the primary therapist.
  • Independently perform simple diagnostic questions.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary meetings, evaluations, and plan discussions.
  • Independently draw up, execute, and evaluate treatment plans under the responsibility of the primary therapist.
  • Be an integral part of the LVB-GGZ polyclinics, always involving the entire system.
  • Work closely with parents, teams, and network partners, who often have different perspectives and interests.
  • Clearly translate diagnostic findings and treatment advice from the primary therapist to all stakeholders.
  • Be resilient, able to deal with resistance, and capable of taking an overarching view and acting accordingly.
  • Take initiative, take responsibility, and ask for support when needed.
  • Early identification of where additional support or quality improvement is needed.

Profile

  • Completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in Applied Psychology, Pedagogy, or Social Work.
  • A plus: completed post-HBO IAG (Intensive Ambulatory Family Treatment) training.
  • Experience with diagnostic imaging (intelligence testing, SEO/ESSEON, Vineland, SRZ).
  • Thinks in possibilities and adapts oral and written communication to interlocutors.
  • Can offer appropriate support to colleagues under challenging circumstances.
  • Investigates own contribution to a process, actively seeks feedback, participates in intervision, and knows own qualities.
  • Independent, analytical, and eager to learn.

Practical

  • Fixed-term contract for one year with the prospect of a permanent contract.
  • Gross salary in accordance with the CAO Gehandicaptenzorg (Collective Labor Agreement for Disability Care) of a minimum of € 3296 and a maximum of € 5200 (FWG 50/55) for a full-time position.
  • Fixed year-end bonus of 8.33%, study cost facilities, balance leave in addition to statutory vacation hours, and an 8% holiday allowance.
  • Travel expense reimbursement or a mobility card for free public transport.
  • Investment in relevant training and development opportunities, such as coaching on the job and the possibility to follow courses or training.
