Childcare Inspector

• Independently conduct inspections at childcare organizations.
• Make unannounced visits to daycare centers, out-of-school care locations, or host parents.
• Check for compliance with policy and legislation.
• Assess pedagogy, safety, and health.
• Clearly document findings in a report.
• Make follow-up appointments where necessary and ensure compliance with these agreements.
• Coordinate with other organizations, including municipalities and umbrella organizations.
• Regularly participate in relevant meetings to stay informed of developments.

What they ask

• Completed HBO (higher professional education) degree, preferably in pedagogy or the legal field.
• Knowledge of public administration and relevant laws and regulations, or willingness to acquire this knowledge.
• Ability to report concretely, professionally, and legally in correct Dutch to childcare locations and municipalities.
• Recognize important information, establish connections between different observations and legal requirements, and draw objective conclusions.
• In possession of a driving license and a car.
• Able to provide a Certificate of Conduct (VOG).

• Be resilient, work independently, and maintain an overview.
• Be good at planning your own work and disciplined, given the alternation between home, office, and travel.
• Be able to conduct clear, sometimes difficult conversations, finding the right tone with tact and professionalism.
• Be flexible, as legislation and the field are constantly evolving.
• Possess a good deal of people skills and insight to assess every situation well.
• Be able to determine your own course and stick to it, even when facing resistance.
• Have tactical insight and be able to remain firm on content while also paying attention to relationships.
• Be decisive to make important decisions quickly and with an eye for what is needed.
• Enjoy working independently, but also be a social colleague who actively participates in the team.

• Workplace in an office building, within walking distance of the Central Station.
• Work within a team of inspectors, process supporters, a policy advisor, and a team leader within a General Public Health department.
