Design and calculate structures for various utility and civil engineering projects. You effortlessly switch between new construction, transformation, and existing buildings, perform NTA inspections, and monitor the feasibility and safety of your designs. You work on multiple projects simultaneously or focus entirely on one large design, and you contribute to quality within a team of experienced structural engineers and modelers.
You will work for a specialized engineering firm in civil and structural engineering, with multiple branches. The organization focuses on technically complex structures in utility construction, civil engineering, industry, and movable steel structures. Intensive use is made of calculation software such as Scia Engineer and other FEM packages, and designs are made according to the Eurocode. In addition, multidisciplinary collaboration is implemented using BIM tools such as Revit and Tekla Structures.
Inspections and assessments of existing structures are carried out according to NTA guidelines. You will work in a team of approximately eleven structural engineers and modelers, part of a larger group of about eighty colleagues. Communication lines are short, there is a lot of mutual coordination, and new colleagues receive good guidance and the trust to fulfill their role in their own way.
What you do
- Design structures in various design stages for utility construction, civil engineering, and existing construction
- Calculate concrete and steel structures with Scia Engineer and other FEM software according to Eurocode
- Prepare specifications and work descriptions for structural components
- Maintain contacts with clients, the design team, and contractors together with the project leader
- Visit construction sites to check the execution of the designed structures
- Collaborate with modelers, project leaders, and other structural engineers within multidisciplinary projects
- Coordinate with specialists from other disciplines on integrated design issues
- Act as a sparring partner for (junior) fellow structural engineers and modelers
- Ask critical questions and think ahead in projects to ensure quality, safety
- Perform NTA inspections of existing structures
- Work on civil engineering water market projects with a structural engineering approach
What they ask
- Possess an HBO or WO diploma in Civil Engineering or Architecture/Building Engineering or equivalent
- Have a minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience as a structural engineer
- Possess demonstrable experience with both concrete and steel structures
- Knowledge of existing construction is a plus
- Proficient with Scia Engineer or another FEM package and familiar with Eurocode
- Be naturally critical, analytical, and a strong team player
- Good command of the Dutch language is desired
