Contract Manager
An organization is looking for an experienced contract manager who can translate complex contracts into successful collaborations and concrete results. The project, part of a larger regional program, focuses on a future-proof water system including a new polder pumping station, a polder canal, new pumping stations, and various nature measures. This is a unique task where technology, environment, administrative interests, and contract management converge.
The organization works on this project using a two-phase approach. The contract manager fulfills the IPM Contract Management role within an important project. The candidate is responsible for the contractual control of a project of great significance for water safety and climate resilience. The project is in the design phase within a construction team collaboration (phase 1).
Together with the construction team partner, the project team, and other stakeholders, the candidate works towards a supported design, a manageable risk distribution, and a successful transition to the realization phase (phase 2). The candidate monitors the contractual frameworks, drives performance, and ensures that collaboration and project goals go hand in hand.
What you do
- Fulfilling the contract management discipline within the IPM team and advising on the realization of project objectives
- Independently guiding the contractual aspects of the construction team phase (phase 1) and preparing the contractual transition to the realization agreement (phase 2)
- Preparing, conducting, and documenting contractual meetings and negotiations with the construction team partner for the conclusion of the realization agreement
- Advising the project manager, the IPM team, and other stakeholders on contractual, legal, commercial, and risk-related issues
- Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on compliance with contractual agreements, performance, project objectives
- Analyzing, managing, and handling contractual changes, deviations, risks, disputes, and potential claims within the applicable contractual frameworks
- Setting up, organizing, and executing system-oriented contract management (SCB), including testing processes, audits, and associated reports
- Leading and guiding contract-related meetings with the construction team partner, contractors, and other contracting parties
- Drafting contractual advice, notes, and decision-making documents to support internal and administrative decision-making
- Developing contract strategies, control measures, and contractual preconditions for the execution phase of the project
- Sharing professional knowledge and expertise and coaching contract management professionals within the program
What they ask
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a contract manager in complex civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Experience as a contract manager within an Integrated Project Management (IPM) team
- Experience with construction team agreements and UAV-GC contracts
- Experience with system-oriented contract management (SCB)
- Experience with design and preparation phases of complex civil engineering projects
- Experience with the transition from construction team to realization contracts
- Experience within a political-administrative environment
- HBO or university degree
- VOL-VCA diploma or willingness to obtain it within two months after the start of the agreement (training and costs at the expense of the bidder)
