Technical Coordinator

The makerspace is versatilely equipped with, among other things, 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC routers. Adjacent is a professional workshop of over 3,000 m² with high-tech machines such as wire EDM, spark erosion, and 5-axis milling. You collaborate with instrument makers, the lab manager, community manager, and student assistants on diverse projects for education and research. You offer support, advice, and guidance in developing prototypes.

You contribute to the further professionalization of the makerspace, optimize work processes, contribute ideas for the development of facilities and equipment, and help make project results accessible for knowledge sharing and stimulating Open Science projects.

Your core tasks.

• Contribute ideas, advise, and co-create in the development and realization of innovative projects and prototypes.
• Guide students, researchers, and staff in designing, developing, and realizing technical solutions.
• Provide workshops and training in fabrication skills, such as 3D design, 3D printing, soldering, and working with microcontrollers.
• Share your technical knowledge and support users in safely and effectively working with both conventional and digital fabrication techniques and equipment.
• Manage the makerspace, including materials, outreach, equipment, maintenance, calibration, orders, and a safe working environment.
• Connect users, experts, and the instrumentation department and identify when specialized support is needed.

What they ask You are curious and proactive, and you feel comfortable as a connecting link between the services of the instrumentation department (service, maintenance, and realization) and the makerspace. You easily prioritize, switch smoothly between different projects, and collaborate constructively with diverse teams. Affinity with beta sciences and experience in a technical or laboratory environment is required.

You are energized by guiding, coaching, and instructing students and staff, and you know how to inspire others to develop ideas and realize innovative solutions.

You also bring.

• A minimum of an HBO diploma (higher professional education) in a relevant technical field.
• Extensive experience with conventional machining techniques and machines (soldering, turning, milling, sawing, bending, and pressing) and materials.
• Knowledge of and interest in digital fabrication techniques, such as 3D modeling, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
• Basic knowledge of electronics and software, for example, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Autodesk Fusion, sensors, and simple data processing.
• Good communication and organizational skills, enabling you to advise users and stimulate collaboration between different disciplines.

• A position for 12 months with, upon good performance, the prospect of an indefinite contract.
• Gross monthly salary from a minimum of € 3,873 to a maximum of € 5,264 for a full-time position (scale 9 of the Dutch Universities Collective Labor Agreement).
