The Safety cluster of a Dutch polder municipality is looking for an experienced enforcement lawyer in the field of the Environmental Act (Omgevingswet). The main task will be the substantive handling of enforcement files. You will identify bottlenecks and propose solutions. You will stay informed of developments in your field and help apply them.
What you will do.
- Substantively handle enforcement files

- Advise inspectors/supervisors on legal issues
- Handle objections
- Advise on enforcement decisions to be taken
- Work closely with other lawyers/policy advisors, inspectors/supervisors, permit providers, and external partners
Profile
You have an affinity with enforcement, particularly in the areas of illegal construction, use contrary to the zoning plan, and violations of the Decree on Buildings and the Living Environment. You have experience in drafting enforcement decisions and responding to objections related to enforcement decisions. You are stress-resistant and integer. You possess good oral and written communication skills. You are open to feedback and dare to give feedback.
Finally, you make a positive contribution to the open and good atmosphere of the cluster.
What they ask
- At least 10 years of demonstrable experience with complex files in the field of construction enforcement, spatial planning, fire safety, and handling objection and (higher) appeal procedures. Reference required.
- At least 10 years of work experience with the government, within a medium-sized or large municipality. Reference required.
Wishes.
- At least 10 years of work experience with legal enforcement in the fields of construction, spatial planning, environment, fire safety, and handling objection and (higher) appeal procedures.
- Completed university degree in Dutch law (WO), preferably with a specialization in Constitutional and Administrative Law.
- Experience in drafting enforcement decisions.
- Possesses political-administrative antennae and analytical skills.
