This assignment specifically relates to projects within the Dutch Nature Network (NNN), for which the intended results must be achieved by the end of 2027. Temporary additional capacity with specific expertise is needed, as internal capacity is insufficient. The assignment requires specific experience with environmental communication and developing unifying narratives across different policy areas.
The external communication advisor will provide temporary additional expertise and capacity, strengthen communication around the NNN projects, and, together with internal colleagues, ensure a solid embedding of knowledge and approach within the organization. The contractor independently determines the approach and organization of the work within the agreed project objectives and substantive and administrative frameworks.
Coordination with internal colleagues is aimed at obtaining necessary information, connecting with the involved projects, and evaluating and transferring results. Upon completion, the contractor will deliver a transfer file with the developed communication products, working methods, and recommendations for follow-up.
What you do
- Analysis of the assignment and the environment for a suitable communication approach.
- Coordination with municipalities, stakeholders, a regional program, and fellow communication advisors.
- Advising the program at a strategic communication level and being responsible for the implementation of the chosen communication line.
- Keeping the website current and up-to-date.
- Managing designers, copywriters, and any other experts.
- Drafting newsletters, website messages, press releases, and other communication expressions.
- Organizing meetings and open evenings in coordination with project leaders.
- Proactively advising the program manager and other members of the program team on communication.
- Being solely responsible for the substantive elaboration, planning, and execution of the agreed communication products and activities.
What they ask
- Minimum HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level in the field of project and environmental communication, demonstrated by a relevant education and relevant work experience.
- Demonstrable professional expertise in all of the following areas: environmental communication, participation, online communication & content strategy, nature policy, and communication regarding area development.
- Completed at least 3 comparable assignments/projects within a complex administrative organization in the past 5 years.
- Experience with developing and implementing communication activities (e.g., drafting communication plans; advising on the use of communication tools and instruments; elaborating and implementing concrete communication tools and instruments; monitoring relevant developments in the environment) within complex projects and in an environment with various involved stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard for digital accessibility.
